Review : Hilton Fukuoka Fitness Center and Public Bath

As I mentioned in my previous entries, in the winter of 2022, my husband and I visited Japan and stayed at Sunshine City Prince Hotel, Conrad Tokyo, Hilton Tokyo and Hilton Fukuoka. While staying at Hilton Fukuoka, we went to its fitness center before having breakfast.

If you are staying in Hilton Fukuoka, you can access to the fitness center gym area for free, but its pool area was 2,200 yen.

Fitness Center Hours

Gym Area : 24 Hours

Fitness Center (5th Floor)

Hilton Fukuoka Gym Area Entrance
We arrived at the Hilton Fukuoka gym area entrance at 6:30 a.m. There was the vending machine near the entrance.
There were a blood pressure monitor and scale in the gym area.

There were two water dispensers. It's important to drink water before and after workout.

There were hand sanitizer sprays and wipes available.

We arrived at the gym area at 6:30 and found it empty!  In foreign-owned hotels like Hilton hotels, the morning gym is often crowded with foreign guests, as they tend to be popular among travelers from overseas. However, during the winter of 2022, perhaps due to the ongoing pandemic, there were significantly fewer Western tourists, and the gym was practically empty, allowing for exclusive use.

According to Hilton Fukuoka website, there are approximately 20 types of training machines, including the latest models from PRECOR, as well as dumbbells.

I did aerobic exercise on a cross trainer, which allows me to work out both my legs and upper body simultaneously. Whenever I visit a hotel gym, I always use the cross trainer. I was very satisfied with the relatively new cross trainer.

Among Hilton-affiliated hotels, the fitness gyms at Conrad Osaka and Conrad Las Vegas are places I’d love to visit again. However, the Hilton Fukuoka has also become one of my favorite gyms due to its peaceful and modern facilities.

The Rock Bath, Public Bath (7th Floor)

The rock bath (public bath) is located on the 7th floor. Normally, even hotel guests are charged 1,760 yen for admission. However, guests staying on the 6th and 7th floors can use it for free. We stayed on the 33rd floor, and during check-in, we received a complimentary voucher for the rock bath, so there was no payment required. Although it’s not mentioned on the official website, it seems that guests staying on the 30th floor or higher also have complimentary access.

Public Bath Hours

7 a.m. through 10 a.m.

3 p.m. through 12 a.m.

I went to the public bath at night, and I was surprised that it was incredibly crowded with Asian tourists. While I always look forward to Japanese baths when I visit Japan, this level of congestion was disappointing. Considering how busy it was, I thought it might be better to avoid using it next time unless I plan my visit carefully. I guess that morning and afternoon hours tend to be less crowded compared to nighttime. If you’re looking for a quieter experience, consider using the public bath during those times.

Next time, I will write about breakfast buffet at Hilton Fukuoka.

Homemade Instant Miso Soup - How to Make Quick and Easy Miso Soup

Homemade Instant Miso Soup

Have you ever tried instant miso soup before? Enjoying miso soup by simply adding hot water to instant miso soup is a convenient and time-saving way to savor a comforting Japanese dish.

Instant Miso Soup

Did you know that you can actually make your own homemade instant miso soup at home? Just combine all the ingredients together and individually wrap each portion in plastic wrap before placing them in the freezer. This is useful for preparing single-serving portions of miso soup that can be enjoyed later. When you want to have miso soup, you can just pour hot water into it and enjoy it.

Today, I'm going to share with you how to make homemade instant miso soup.

How to Make Homemade Instant Miso Soup

Homemade Instant Miso Soup

Ingredients for 1 Serving

1 Tablespoon (18g) of Miso Paste

1/2 Teaspoon of Hondashi (Optional)

1 Tablespoon of Dried Wakame Seaweeds

2 Tablespoons of Green Onions (Sliced)

Other suitable ingredients for homemade instant miso soup are bonito flakes (かつおぶし), tororo kombu flakes (とろろ昆布), roasted white sesame seeds, minced garlic, and so on. You can also use dried miso soup ingredients to make it easier.

Miso Soup Ingredients

1. Combine all ingredients together in a cup. (If you want to enjoy it later, wrap each portion in plastic wrap and store it in the freezer for up to one month.)

 2. Pour 250ml to 300ml of boiling water into it. (Adjust the amount of boiling water to taste.)

 3. Stir it well until miso paste dissolves completely. Enjoy!

Review : Hilton Fukuoka Executive Lounge - Cocktail Time and Refreshment Time

As I mentioned in my previous entries, in the winter of 2022, my husband and I visited Japan and stayed at Sunshine City Prince Hotel, Conrad Tokyo, Hilton Tokyo and Hilton Fukuoka. While staying at Hilton Fukuoka, we visited Executive Lounge located on the 33rd floor. If you stay in Executive room or Suite room, or if you have Hilton Honors Diamond Status, you can access to the Executive Lounge and enjoy complimentary foods and drinks during cocktail time.

■Executive Lounge Hours (7 a.m. through 8 p.m.)

・Breakfast

       Weekdays 7 a.m. - 10:0 a.m.

       Weekends and Holiday 7 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

・Refreshment Time

After Breakfast Hour to 5 p.m.

       7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Cocktail Time  5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

 Executive Lounge (33rd Floor)

We visited the Executive Lounge during Cocktail Time.

Upon arriving at the lounge, it seemed that there were few people initially, but it quickly became almost full.

Cocktail Time

Because it was still the coronavirus pandemic in the winter of 2022, it was necessary to wear disposable plastic gloves before using the tongs. I was a bit surprised because this wasn’t required at the Hilton Tokyo and Conrad Tokyo.

There were three kinds of bread I could enjoy.

Braised Chinese Cabbage and Oyster Mushrooms & Minestrone Soup

Guacamole and Garlic Shrimp

Yoro Tofu and Salad & Pickled Chicken
Yoro Tofu is tofu dish made of nagaimo, Chinese yam.

Simmered Spicy Konjac
I really liked that simmered spicy konjac.

Strawberry Sponge Cake & Strawberry Cake Rolls & Mini Berry Tarts

There were many kinds of alcohol drinks you can enjoy.

There were Nespresso coffee machine and pods.

I thought that at Hilton Fukuoka, the lounge provided a menu with wholesome and nourishing choices.

I found Yoro tofu to be a delightful discovery. Its distinct texture really appealed to me.

I appreciated the bite-sized cakes. We enjoyed all three kinds of cakes.

I enjoyed a cup of  Nespresso decaf coffee.

The dishes were all delicious. Overall, it left an impression of being predominantly light Japanese cuisine. Among the evening meals served in the Hilton hotel’s executive lounge, this menu stood out as the most delicate. I appreciated that it wasn’t too heavy. (Considering how delicious breakfast was the next day, having a modest dinner seemed just right. 😉)

We also Visited the Executive Lounge during Refreshment Time.

After checking in around noon, we visited the executive lounge during the refreshment time (from breakfast until 5:00 p.m.). However, there were only cookies and dried fruits available. They also had Nespresso coffee. I wonder if this was due to the pandemic, perhaps a more modest offering?

Refreshment Time
       The selection was surprisingly limited.
Refreshment Time
Despite that, from the executive lounge window, I could see the Fukuoka PayPay Dome, and I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful view along with my coffee.

Fukuoka PayPay Dome (The View from the Executive Lounge)

We also Enjoyed Walking Around Fukuoka PayPay Dome.

Fukuoka PayPay Dome
After having light meals in Executive Lounge, we decided to take a stroll around the Fukuoka PayPay Dome for a gentle exercise. Since it’s conveniently close to the Hilton hotel, it’s a great option for a light workout.  The entire loop, starting from the hotel, circling the dome, and returning took just 15 minutes.

Next time, I will write about Hilton Fukuoka Fitness Gym.
