Mahogany Smoked Meats, the Best Jerky Store in Bishop

On September first, my husband and I went to Mahogany Smoked Meats, a jerky store in Bishop, on the way home from Lake Tahoe. This jerky store was one my husband's coworker recommended him.

This store were selling various jerky by weight. I had never seen such a great number of different kinds of jerky in my life! The price seemed pretty high, but it's not too expensive as compared with commercial beef jerky.

My husband bought a pound of beef jerky, and it tasted so good! The next day, he shared them with his coworkers.

If I have a chance to go to Bishop next time, I would like to try their sandwich! :)

Amigo’s Mexican Restaurant - Bishop, California

When my husband and I stayed in Bishop, California on our way to Lake Tahoe, we went this restaurant, Amigo's Mexican Restaurant. We hadn't decided which restaurant we would go there that day, so I looked up on Yelp and found that this restaurant has many positive reviews. Because we love Mexican foods, we decided to give it a try.

When we arrived there at around 7 p.m., the restaurant was almost filled with many customers. It looked like a very popular restaurant.

I liked their fresh chips and salsa. The chips were hot and crunchy, and salsa was fresh and spicy. :)

We tried chicken tortilla soup for our first time. It was so delicious! I'd like to cook tortilla soup someday. :)

I ordered their carne asada burrito with beans and rice. It was much bigger than I expected! The burrito contained guacamole, so it was nice and creamy. I was surprised their rice, which was seasoned well and delicious.

He ordered their chile colorado burrito. Because of its melted cheese, it was so creamy and good. :)

Even though we were very hungry when we arrived there, we were not able to finish all of them because each plate was so huge. We took left overs and had them while driving to Lake Tahoe next day.

If we have a chance to visit Bishop again, we will definitely come back there. :)

Erick Schat’s Bakkery - Bishop, California

My husband and I stayed at a motel in Bishop on our way to Lake Tahoe. His coworker had told him that there were some pretty good places to eat in Bishop. This bakery, Erick Schat’s Bakkery, was one of her recommendations. As soon as we arrived in Bishop, we decided to go there.

However, they were already closed at 6:35 p.m. when we arrived there, so we decided to go there next morning.

We came back there at 9 a.m. We were surprised that the parking lot was congested already.

The inside of the store was so many people. There were long lines at sandwich bar and coffee bar with dessert bakery. Instead of a made-to-order sandwich, we bought a ready made sandwiche without waiting so long, and it looked very fresh! :) The inside store was packed with loaves of fresh bread, honey, fruit jam, beef jerky and so on. Some people were buying so many loaves! I thought that their products must be so good. I'm going to share with you what I bought there. :)

We decided to buy this huge Pecan Pullaway for $7.50. It was bigger than my face!

On our way to Lake Tahoe, we tried this and was so good. :) It was nice and sweet!

We also bought this Mule Kick Sandwich for $9.25. After we arrived in Lake Tahoe, we had it for our lunch.

Next day, we stopped by Erick Schat’s Bakkery on our way home from Lake Tahoe again. We bought their Roast Beef Sandwich for $8.95 for our lunch.

It was also so fresh and good!

We bought some other products there.

We bought this 16 oz bottle of pure honey for $8.15 because my husband's coworker recommended this. There were two kinds of honey which were wildflower honey and clover one. We chose clover one.

There were some samples of bread and fruit jam at the bakery, and I really liked this red raspberry jam, so I decided to buy it. This 10 oz jar of Clearbrook Farms Red Raspberry Preserves was $5.50.

My husband was going to buy their famous sheepherder bread, but he ended up choosing this 100% Deluxe Raisin Bread with Walnuts for $5.50 because it looked sweeter. Yes, he has a sweet tooth.

We really liked this raisin bread especially crunchy walnuts. :)

Since we came back home, we have had their Pecan Pullaway with black coffee. :)

When we bought these, the cashier gave us chocolate chip cookies for free. :)

If we have a chance to go to Bishop again, we will definitely stop by Erick Schat’s Bakkery.

Best Western Bishop Lodge - Motel Review

My husband and I stayed at Best Western Bishop Lodge in Bishop, California, on August 30. It was a non-smoking room with a queen size bed for Saturday night, which was Labor day weekend, for $101. We booked the room two days before checking in, so I guess that it might be more reasonable if you book a room in advance. I know we should have done it earlier. However, I was satisfied with staying this motel overall. :)
The room was nice and clean. They provided free WiFi, and its access was pretty stable. :)

The numbers of towels was enough for two people. There were the coffee machine and four packs of ground coffee. :) There were two soap bars and small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion.

The bathroom was also nice and clean.

What I loved this motel was that there were the microwave and the refrigerator.

This motel has a fitness gym. Although the gym, which probably has only three to four gym equipments, is very small, I think that some people love working out during staying there.

They also have free continental breakfast, including bagel, sliced bread, waffle, boiled eggs, scramble egg, breakfast sausages, apple, orange, banana, yogurt, coffee, orange juice, apple juice and so on. We didn't eat a lot because we wanted to buy sandwiches at a nearby famous bakery, Erick Schat's Bakkery. We enjoyed coffee at this motel. They provided three kinds of coffee, medium roast, dark roast, and decaf coffee.
