Hotel Room Tour and Review - Hilton Osaka - Osaka, Japan

Hilton Osaka
As I mentioned in my previous entries, my husband and I visited Osaka last winter. We stayed in Osaka Daiichi Hotel for one night, Conrad Osaka for one night and Hilton Osaka for two nights.

It took less than ten minutes from Conrad Osaka to Hilton Osaka by taxi. It cost about 700 yen (one taximeter) but we paid 1,000 yen including tip. As I mentioned in my previous entry, What You Should Take to Japan - Japan Travel Tips, there is no tipping in any situation in Japan, so you don't have to tip at all when you are in Japan. However, when it comes to taxi, I sometimes tip a taxi driver because it was a very short distance (only one taximeter) and I didn't want to pay with coins on the busy street, so I tell a taxi driver, "Otsuri wa irimasen (おつりはいりません。)," which means "Keep the change." However, basically, you don't need to tip taxi drivers in Japan.

The Location Is Excellent!

Hilton Osaka is located in the center of Osaka city (There are so many shopping spots and restaurants nearby the hotel.) As I mentioned in my previous entry, Japanese Grocery Haul - What I Purchased at Supermarket, Department Stores and Kitano Ace in Japan, we went to depachika (デパ地下) to purchase some high quality grocery and also went to Muji store located in Grand Front Osaka (グランフロント大阪) to purchase my favorite Muji products. By the way, if you are looking for an affordable hotel located in an excellent location in Osaka, I recommend you to try Osaka Daiichi Hotel (Osaka Marubiru). Hilton Osaka and Osaka Daiichi Hotel are located very close to each other. It takes less than one minute by walk to go to Hilton Osaka from Osaka Daiichi Hotel.

How to Get Hilton Osaka from an Airport
At Osaka International Airport (大阪国際空港), which is also called Itami Airport (伊丹空港), you can take an airport limousine bus to go to Osaka Marubiru, which is located right across from Hilton Osaka. It only costs 650 yen per person and takes 30 minutes to get there from the airport. By the way, Hilton Osaka is just 3 minutes away from JR Osaka station.

The Hilton Plaza

Lobby (The 1st Floor)

Lobby (1F)

The lobby is located on the first floor. We had originally booked the least expensive room, but when we checked in at this hotel, they upgraded our room to King Deluxe Room because he had Hilton Honors Diamond status. We were really grateful that they upgraded our room because it was the busiest season in Japan.

Some of the Perks of Hilton Honors Diamond Status
・A complimentary continental breakfast for you and up to one guest registered to the same room each day of your stay (Hilton Osaka's breakfast costs 3,000 yen per person. We stayed in Hilton Osaka for two nights, so we saved 12,000yen for breakfast. )
・Executive Floor Lounge Access (You can enjoy complimentary drinks and light meals there.)
・Space-available upgrade to a preferred room
・1,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points per stay
・Premium Wi-Fi

Elevators
While Conrad Osaka has new and very modern looks, you can find traditional Japanese style at Hilton Osaka.
Japanese Art (Hilton Osaka)

King Deluxe Room (30m²/323 sq. ft)

King Deluxe Room (30m²/323 sq. ft)
We stayed in this King Deluxe Room. The room was spacious enough for us.

The window had shoji (障子), traditional Japanese sliding windows which consist of wood frames filled in with paper.

From the window, we could enjoy the view of Osaka cityscape.
JR Osaka Station (The View from the Room)

We could see the JR Osaka station.

Umeda Sky Building (The View from the Room)

The night view was also beautiful. The tall building was Umeda Sky building (梅田スカイビル).

Hilton Osaka Welcome Sweets
These were welcome sweets from Hilton Osaka.
Hilton Osaka Welcome Sweets
These were wagashi (和菓子), traditional Japanese confections. The orange one looked very like a persimmon, which is called kaki (柿) in Japanese. The brown one looked very like chestnut, which is called kuri (栗) in Japanese. Persimmon and chestnuts are fall-and-winter fruit in Japan. I guessed that these were made of sweetened white bean pastes. My husband ate all of them.
Hilton Osaka Welcome Sweets

This small paper box had brown sugar rusks in it. It was sweet and crispy.

There were two bottles of water on the mini fridge.

There were some green tea, hojicha and instant coffee. The coffee was UCC The Blend 117 instant coffee.

The bathroom was also nice and clean.

There were Crabtree & Evelyn shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion.

The Japanese soaking bathtub is deeper than a regular American style bathtub.  When I visit Japan, I always enjoy taking a hot bath every night just like I used to do when I lived in Japan. It relieves your tired body, and it really makes you relax.

Next time, I will write about Hilton Osaka Executive Lounge.

The Best-Selling Japanese Soap, Cow Brand Soap - Red Box vs Blue Box

Cow Brand Soap (牛乳石鹸)
Have you ever heard of Cow Brand Soap? Cow Brand is the Japanese company that makes their best-selling soap, Cow Brand Soap. They have been selling Cow Brand Soap since 1928, and it has been very popular in Japan. Indeed, Cow Brand Soap Red Box and Blue Box have won beauty awards in Japan many times and are still ranked number one in the best facial soap product on @cosme, a huge cosmetic review site in Japan. Many people review that it improves skin health and relives acne and atopic dermatitis. Many Japanese dermatologists also recommend to use Cow Brand Soap for people who have very sensitive skins. If you are looking for affordable Japanese soap that is very gentle to your skin, I recommend you to try Cow Brand Soap.

Cow Brand Soap Has Won Japanese Beauty Awards.

Where Can You Find Cow Brand Soap in Japan?

If you are in Japan, you can find Cow Brand Soap at most drugstores and supermarkets. It's very easy to find Cow Brand Soap in Japan. A red box is usually100 yen per bar, and blue one is 80 yen per bar in Japan.

Cow Brand Soap (牛乳石鹸)
Can You Use Cow Brand Soap for Face?

You can use Cow Brand Soap for your face and body. If you use it for your face, I recommend you to use a Japanese foaming net, which allows you to create very thick foam very quickly with only tiny amount of soap. Washing your face with plenty of lather is the most important tip for healthy skin. If you are in Japan, you can find foaming net at most drugstores, Muji, Daiso and so on. You can check out my previous entry, Top 5 Life-Changing Japanese Beauty Products.

Which Cow Brand Soap Should You Choose? (Red Box vs Blue Box)

Cow Brand Soap Is Popular as Oseibo, Japanese Year-End Gifts.

Just like Japanese onsen bath salt I mentioned in my previous entry, 2 Popular Japanese Onsen Bath Salt Products, Cow Brand Soap is also popular as Japanese traditional year-end gifts, which is called oseibo (お歳暮) because everyone loves it. Indeed, I've also found large boxes of Cow Brand Soap at my parents' home because some of our relatives sent them as Japanese traditional year-end gifts. Some supermarkets and department stores in Japan also sell Cow Brand Soap gift sets around this time of year. If you are in Japan, you can find Cow Brand Soap in an oseibo gift section at many stores. 😉

Review : Conrad Osaka Breakfast Buffet - Atmos Dining

Conrad Osaka Atmos Dining

As I mentioned in my previous entry, Hotel Room Tour and Review - Conrad Osaka - Osaka, Japan, my husband and I stayed in Conrad Osaka for one night last winter.

After we went to their fitness center, we had breakfast at Atmos Dining, a restaurant located on the 40th floor. Their breakfast usually costs 3,900 yen per person, but we were able to have breakfast (7,800yen) for free because he had Hilton Diamond Status.

Atmos Dining
40th Floor
Conrad Osaka
3-2-4 Nakanoshima,
Kita Ward, Osaka, 530-0005
Japan

Breakfast Buffet
Monday through Friday : 6:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Saturday and Sunday : 6:30 to 11 a.m.

Conrad Osaka Atmos Dining

We could have the table with nice view. 😍

At first, we were asked about drink (coffee or tea). The waitress told us that we could order egg meal as many as we wanted, and we also could choose one dish per person from other menu.

Atmos Dining Breakfast Menu

I chose this mix omelet (tomato, mushroom, spinach, sweet pepper, cheese and ham).
Mix Omelet (ミックス オムレツ)

Because we wanted to have something Japanese, washoku, we chose this chazuke, Chazuke Rice Bowl with Grilled Alasaka Kinki. Kinki means rockfish. This was very fancy chazuke. If you want to make quick and easy chazuke at home, you can make it with steamed rice and Nagatanien Ochazuke.

Chazuke Rice Bowl with Grilled Alaska Kinki (アラスカ吉次のお茶漬け)

Then, we chose this okonomiyaki, Okonomiyaki Benedict. We were glad that we could have Osaka food. If you want to make easy okonomiyaki at home, you can make it with okonomiyaki flour and okonomiyaki sauce. You can check out in my previous entry, How to Cook Okonomiyaki - Our Saturday Lunch.

Okonomiyaki Benedict (お好み焼きベネディクト)

I liked that it had the perfect poached-egg on top. 😋

Okonomiyaki Benedict (お好み焼きベネディクト)

The breakfast buffet had plenty of Japanese, Chinese and Western foods we could choose from.

Japanese (Umeboshi, Radish Pickles, Chikuzenni, Tofu Salad and Okura Pickled in Soy Sauce)

Western (Potato Rosti, Weisswurst, Baked Beans, Scrambled Eggs, Poached Egg and etc)

Rice Menu (Beef Fried Rice, Steamed White Rice, Rice Porridge and etc )

They had takoyaki (たこ焼き), a ball-shaped snack that octopus in it. When you visit Osaka, you should have takoyaki and okonomoiyaki.

Takoyaki (たこ焼き)

Japanese (Simmered Fish and Inarizushi)

Japanese (Tamagoyaki and Onsen Tamago)

I was glad that there was kaiware daikon (カイワレ大根), daikon radish sprouts, at the salad bar. In the U.S., it's very hard to find kaiware daikon. If you want to try unique Japanese vegetable, you should try kaiware daikon, which has bitter and spicy peppery tastes.

Salad

Grapefruit and Yogurt

Strawberry Yogurt and Fruit Smoothie (Banana & Mango)

Bread

There were many kinds of fluffy bread we could choose from. I saw that some groups of Japanese women were having a lot of bread that day.

Bread

Fresh Fruit Juice

I wanted to eat Japanese foods and ended up eating a lot there that morning. Especially, I loved their chikuzenni, okura, and Japanese pickles.

I was impressed that caucasian women in the table next to us were trying to eat natto, a traditional Japanese food of fermented soybeans, and they were asking a restaurant staff how to eat natto. I thought that it's pretty hard for foreigners to try traditional Japanese foods especially natto. Many Japanese people love natto, but some people do dislike it. For instance, some of my Japanese friends dislike natto because of its smell and slimy texture. My husband also used to dislike it, but now he really likes it because of me. He told me that he didn't know how delicious it was. If you don't like natto, I recommend you to try it with mayonnaise. Natto is one of Japanese superfoods and good for you. 😉

After that, we had coffee and mini bread. You can order this cute latte art coffee at their coffee station.

After that, we enjoyed beautiful views from the windows.

From the windows, we were able to see Osaka Marubiru building, which we stayed in previous day, and Hilton Osaka, which we would stay in next day. I'll write about Hilton Osaka next time.

Conrad Osaka was definitely the best hotel we have ever stayed. If you are planning on visiting Osaka, Japan and looking for the best luxury hotel, I recommend you Conrad Osaka. I would also like to stay Conrad Tokyo some day when we visit Tokyo.
