Replacing the Tile Vanity Top on A Budget - Bathroom Renovation

As I mentioned in my previous entry, my husband and I finally finished our guest bathroom renovation! When we purchased our home last year, the bathroom was ugly and very outdated. Now, I really love this bathroom which has clean and modern look. :)

Replacing Tile Vanity Top
When we purchased this home, we decided to renovate our home on a budget. After painting the vanity cabinet white, we wanted to replace the old vanity top which had 80s pinky beige tiles! At first, we were planning on replacing it to a new granite vanity top. However, we noticed that the vanity was not standard sized, and a custom granite vanity top is very expensive. That's why we decided to make porcelain tile vanity top. :)

Four months ago, he removed old tiles. Removing tiles was really dusty, so he wore a N95 mask and safety goggles.

Then, he installed the backerboard.

We went to Floor & Decor to purchase tiles. We looked for high gloss tiles which are easier to clean and perfect for bathroom. We wanted to get stone-looked porcelain tiles.

These porcelain tiles looked like natural stone!

We finally decided to purchase the Carrara Polished Porcelain Tiles because we wanted to make our bathroom looked clean and brighter. The Carrara Polished Porcelain Tiles had paired pieces. We purchased four 12 x 12 inch tiles, a 12 x 24 inch one, a 24 x 24 inch one and some 3 x 12 inch ones.

He finally installed the Carrara Polished Porcelain Tiles. He used Kobalt 24-in Snap Cutter for cutting a large tiles, and Goldblatt G02009 Compound Tile Nippers and Hitachi G12SR4 6.2-Amp 4-1/2-Inch Angle Grinder for cutting the round shaped hole for a sink.

For its grout, he used Fusion Pro Single Component Grout Bright White.

Even though tile vanity top is not trendy right now, I think that this white vanity top has modern look. I really love this vanity top, which is very beautiful and easy to clean indeed. I think that he did a really great job! Actually, we are thinking about installing the same tiles in our master bathroom as well. :)
