Rays on the Bay at Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay - Hawaiian Cuisine on the Big Island in Hawaii

While my husband and I were traveling on the Big Island, we stayed at Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay. On January 2, we decided to go to this fancy Hawaiian cuisine restaurant, Rays on the Bay, which located at the first floor of the hotel. This restaurant is built on lava cliffs so close to the ocean. It offers a view to manta rays feeding offshore in their natural habitat. We hoped to see manta rays from the restaurant, so we made a reservation at 6:30 p.m. We requested the table which we could see manta rays from. That's why we were able to have a great ocean front table.

My husband ordered this cocktail, Signature Mai Tai, 1944 Original Mai Tai, Mount Gay Eclipse rum, Orgeat, Orange curacao and Whaler's dark rum, for $12.

We ordered temaki sushi, Roll your Way, which included fresh sashimi ahi, cold smoked salmon, fresh catch, blue lump crab, shrimp tempura, ocean salad, sushi rice, toasted nori, pickled ginger and wasabi, for $23. All the fresh fish was nice and fresh. From the viewpoint of Japanese, their sushi rice was not good though.

We also ordered the Manta Ray, which included spider shrimp, ahi poke, veggie spring rolls, chipotle BBQ wings, for $28. Their ahi poke was fresh and good. :)

We enjoyed good Hawaiian foods and Hawaiian live music there. In addition, ocean breeze felt great. Needless to say, the atmosphere of this restaurant was amazing. :)  We were not able to see manta rays but had a wonderful time for our dining there.
