On January 2nd, my husband and I went to Da Poke Shack, a poke fast food restaurant on the Big Island. Poke is a raw salad served as an appetizer in Hawaiian cuisine, so we wanted to try authentic Hawaiian poke during our traveling in Hawaii. This poke restaurant has so many positive reviews on Yelp and some travel review sites. Since I really like fresh raw fish, I looked forward to trying this restaurant. :) We arrived there at 11 a.m. and easily found a parking space, which was only for 15 minutes.
We waited in a line for 5 minutes or so. We decided to order Poke Plate, which was a plate with two kinds of 1/3 lb poke, two kinds of side dishes and rice. There were so many kinds of poke and side dishes we could choose from.
The Poke we chose were Dynamite, which was ahi with avocado, and Shack Special Poke, which was ahi marinate with sweet sauce. The side dishes we chose were Seaweed Salad and Imitation Crab Salad.
The man was cutting very fresh fish in the kitchen at the restaurant.
There were a few tables outside the restaurant, but we decided to eat it at the beach where a few minutes away from the restaurant.
The amount of the Poke Plate was so huge!
It tasted so good, especially Dynamite, ahi with avocado. The Shack Special was a little too sweet for us though. My husband really liked their seaweed salad. We enjoyed delicious poke and watching beautiful sea. :)
