Hojicha Cream Frappuccino with Caramel Sauce 9/15 ~ 10/1 |
Hojicha (ほうじ茶) is Japanese roasted green tea. Hojicha looks similar to black tea, but it's more flavorful and savory. The taste of hojicha is not close to black tea nor regular green tea. If you are a tea lover and have never tried hojicha before, you should try it. I think everyone likes it. :)

By the way, people in Japan usually don't drink sweetened green tea. (Although you can find sweetened Black Tea there.) If you want to buy a bottle of
green tea at a supermarket or convenience store in Japan, you can
probably find unsweetened ones only. When I moved to the U.S., I was surprised that there were sweetened green tea and mint flavored green tea. I'm not still used to American style green tea. My favorite Japanese green tea you can find at convenience store in Japan is Itoen Oi Ocha Koicha (伊藤園 お~い お茶 濃茶), which has stronger green tea taste. Itoen also has Oi Ocha Hojicha (お~い お茶 ほうじ茶). Did you know that you can also find bottles of hot green tea at convenience stores and vending machines in Japan during cold season? :)

I will definitely try this, as I have lots of Starbucks gift cards to use up. Luckily there is a Starbucks in the next town...not like Tokyo where there is one every block!
