Japanese Snacks and Candies Haul - What He Purchased at Convenience Stores in Japan

As I mentioned in my previous entry, my husband went on his business trip to Tokyo, Japan, last month. He only stayed in Japan for two days (It was just one night.), so he didn't have enough time to shop around. Yet, he was able to purchase some snacks and candies at convenience stores in Tokyo. You know, in Japan, convenience stores are every where in big cities like Tokyo. You can find these at convenience stores, supermarkets and discount stores in Japan. If you want to purchase some of these in Japan, I recommend you to check them at supermarkets and discount stores because they might be cheaper. Some large drugstores also sell grocery with affordable prices. Convenience stores sell most products with regular prices, so they are a bit expensive. :) Anyway, today, I'm going to share what he purchased at convenience stores with you.

1. Baby Star Dodekai Ramen by Oyatsu Company (ベビースタードデカイラーメン by おやつカンパニー)

Baby Star Dodekai Ramen

I like Baby Star Ramen, which is ramen snack. Baby Star Ramen has two types of noodles, thin and shorter noodle one and flat and longer noodle one. I like this flat noodle one, Baby Star Dodekai Ramen! :) When he visited Japan, he found these new flavor ones, Carbonara Flavor Dodekai Ramen and Hamburg Steak Curry Flavor Dodekai Ramen! These were selling for a limited number. Tetsuro Degawa (出川哲郎), a famous Japanese comedian, was pictured on the packages.

Kororo

Last time I visited Japan, I was really into Kororo! Kororo (コロロ) is fruit gummy candies made by UHA Mikakuto (UHA味覚糖). I was very impressed at that these are gummy candies but the texture was really like real grapes! If you are planning on visiting Japan, you really should try Kororo!

3. Hokkaido Butter Rich Cookies by Wakasaya Honpo (北海道バターリッチ by わかさや本舗)
320 yen for two cookies at Family Mart Convenience Store

Hokkaido Butter Rich Cookies

He purchased this Hokkaido Butter Rich Cookies at Family Mart convenience store, but I think this one is hard to find at other stores. This one had two packages of cookies.

Hokkaido Butter Rich Cookies are buttercream with raisins sandwiched between two soft cookies.

They were pretty good! These are made by Wakasaya Honpo (わかさや本舗), but many of my friends from Hokkaido used to give me similar cookies, Marusei Butter Sand (マルセイバターサンド), made by Rokkatei (六花亭), as delicious souvenirs from Hokkaido. I believe that Rokkatei ones are the original one. If you travel Hokkaido, you should try Rokkatei Marusei Butter Sand!

4. PPORO Chocolat by Ragno (ポロショコラ by ラグノオ)
504 yen at Lawson Convenience Store

He purchased this PPORO Chocolat at Lawson convenience store. I think this one is also hard to find at other stores. It was originally 720 yen but was on sale for 504 yen. It had two packages of chocolate cake.

I was surprised that this chocolate cake was very delicious! It was moist and had rich chocolate taste. If you find this one at Lawson convenience store, you might want to try one!

5. Curry Jirushi by Sanshin (カレー印 by 三真)

We love curry flavored rice crackers such as Kameda Curry Sen. This is our first time to try this rice crackers. :)

6. Country Ma'am by Fujiya (カントリーマアム by 不二家)

As I mentioned in my previous entry, 4 Japanese Candies and Snacks, Official Souvenirs of the G7 2016 Ise-Shima Summit , Country Ma'am (カントリーマアム) is soft cookies made by Fujiya (不二家), which is one of the biggest Japanese companies and first started selling confectionery products in Yokohama, Japan in 1910. Fujiya released Country Ma'am in 1984. They often make limited edition ones, and these Country Ma'am is chestnut flavor and can be only found in fall.
