What He Purchased at Haneda Airport, Tokyo International Airport - Japan Haul

As I mentioned in my previous entry, my husband went on his business trip to Tokyo, Japan, last month. He purchased some delicious souvenirs at Haneda Airport, Tokyo International Airport. Today, I'm going to share what he purchased there with you. ;)
Haneda Airport Haul

1. Ningyo Yaki (人形焼)
8 Pieces
600 yen at Haneda Airport
Ningyo Yaki (人形焼)
Ningyo yaki (人形焼) is a traditional small molded Japanese cake originated from Tokyo and is one of the most popular Tokyo's souvenirs. It has sweetened red bean pastes in it. In Tokyo, you can find ningyo yaki at most gift shops in sightseeing spots or at train stations and airports.

The package of this ningyo yaki had a picture of a festival held at Sensoji (浅草寺) in Asakusa, Tokyo.

It had eight pieces of ningyo yaki.

This is inu hariko (犬張子) shaped ningyo yaki. Hariko (張子, 張り子) is a traditional Japanese paper doll. Inu (犬) means a dog in Japanese.

This one is lantern shaped. You can see the famous lantern (雷門, Kaminarimon) at the gate of Sensoji.

I toasted ningyo yaki with my Sharp Healsio Gurie, Japanese high-end toaster oven. They turned out so delicious as if they were just freshly baked. If you love sweetened red bean paste, anko (あんこ), I think that you will like them.

2. Mame Taiyaki (まめたい焼き)
4 Pieces Each Box
429 yen / 390 yen Each Box at Haneda Airport
Mame Taiyaki (まめたい焼き)
Mame (豆) in Japanese means a pea, but it's also sometimes used to express "small" or "tiny". You probably know shiba inu (柴犬), one of dog breeds originated from Japan. The smaller shiba inu is called mame shiba (豆柴). Anyway, this mame taiyaki is not typical taiyaki, a Japanese fish-shaped cake. Now, you know that mame taiyaki is very small taiyaki.
Mame Taiyaki (まめたい焼き)
Each box contained four pieces of mame taiyaki.

Can you notice that it is fish-shaped? The white package one has mame taiyaki which has sweetened red bean pastes in it. To me, it tasted like ningyo yaki rather than typical taiyaki.
Mame Taiyaki (まめたい焼き)

Mame Taiyaki Kuri Kinton (まめたい焼き 栗きんとん)
The yellow box has 4 pieces of mame taiyaki which has kuri kinton pastes in it. Kuri kinton (栗きんとん) is Japanese traditional sweets made of chestnut, which is called kuri (栗) in Japanese. In Japan, it's believed that women love chestnuts, potatoes and pumpkins. I think it's true that I love sweets made from those. :)

Saku Saku Age Senbei Hanaebi (さくさく揚煎餅 はなえび)
Age Senbei (揚煎餅) is deep fried- rice crackers. Ebi (えび) means a shrimp in Japanese. This box contained eight pieces of shrimp flavored rice crackers.
Saku Saku Age Senbei Hanaebi (さくさく揚煎餅 はなえび)
It's pretty big! It was crunchy and had savory soy sauce and shrimp taste. I really loved it. :)

Hotate (ほたて, 帆立, ホタテ) means a scallop in Japanese. It contained four pieces of scallop flavored rice crackers. I also really loved it. If you are at Haneda Airport, you should try one! ;)

5. Shiseido Parlour Cheese Cake Marron (資生堂パーラー 秋のチーズケーキ マロン)
3 Pieces
850 yen
Shiseido Parlour Cheese Cake Marron (資生堂パーラー 秋のチーズケーキ マロン)
As I mentioned in my previous entry, 6 Popular Products form Shiseido Parlour Shop - Shiseido Parlour Ginza Tokyo (Shiseido Restaurants, Cafe and Confectionery Store), Shiseido is not only a Japanese cosmetic company, but they also have restaurants, cafe and confectionery stores in Japan. In 1902, Shiseido first started selling soda fountain and ice cream in Ginza, Tokyo. In 1928, they also started restaurant business, Shiseido Parlour (資生堂パーラー).
Shiseido Parlour Cheese Cake Marron (資生堂パーラー 秋のチーズケーキ マロン)
Cheese Cake is the most popular confectionery from Shiseido Parlour. Because it's fall, they are selling fall limited edition cheese cake, Shiseido Parlour Cheese Cake Marron. In Japan, a sweetened chestnut used for confectionery is called marron (マロン). This contained three pieces of small cheese cake.

It was moist and had rich cheese and chestnut taste. Because it's very small, I thought it's pretty expensive at first. (One piece of Shiseido Parlour Cheese Cake is about 300 yen.) However, it's very delicious! You should try one when you go to Tokyo. :) You can find Shiseido Parlour building in Ginza, Tokyo, and they have some branches at department stores and airports in Tokyo. Last time, I purchased Shiseido Parlour La Ganache, chocolate candies, and was also pretty good. ;)
