The Reason Why We Traveled in Arizona - How We Used the $250 Hilton Aspire Resort Credit

Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix, Arizona
As I mentioned in my previous entry, Starbucks Arizona Double Wall Traveler and Cold Cup, my husband and I came back from Phoenix, Arizona, last Sunday.

He had been on his business trip in Phoenix last month. When he came back home from his business trip, I told him that I wanted to see beautiful cacti of Arizona some day again. (We had also visited Arizona in 2017. ) However, I didn't expect that we would go to Arizona so soon. Last Friday, he asked me if we could travel Phoenix for just one night. I first thought he was kidding, but we finally headed toward Phoenix last Saturday, and stayed in this hotel, Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort, for one night and came back to California next day. Actually, we enjoyed a lot there. :)

We Spent $450 on Credit Card Annual Fee!
If truth be told, the reason why we traveled in Arizona was that we wanted to stay in Hilton Resort Hotel (and I wanted to see cacti in Arizona) because of Hilton Honors Aspire credit card. Last month, I had recommended him to apply American Express Hilton Honors Aspire Credit Card because I thought that it would be pretty good for us. It offers some great benefits when you stay in Hilton hotels. However, its annual fee is $450, which is very expensive for us. You know how frugal I am if you have been following my blog for years. ;) Yet, I thought that it's worth it to pay that much!

These are some benefits make we think it is worth paying an expensive annual fee for this credit card. We are planing on visiting Japan this winter, so we will also enjoy some of these benefits in Japan. ;)

・Hilton Honors Complimentary Diamond Status (Diamond Status has so many benefits such as a free breakfast at many Hilton hotels.)

・Annual Free Weekend Night Reward (You can stay in a luxury hotel such as Conrad for free every year.)

・$250 Hilton Resort Statement Credit (We used this credit for this travel.)

・$250 Airline Fee Credit

・Priority Pass Select (Priority Pass Select usually costs $429 per person annually, but it's free for this card holder. You and up to 2 guests can enjoy airport lounges worldwide.)

Premium Roadside Assistance (This is a very great benefit. We don't need to purchase AAA membership while we own this card.)  (As of 01/01/2020, American Express cards no longer provide Roadside Assistance benefits.)

・No Foreign Transaction Fees

・Travel Accident Insurance

・Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance

・Baggage Insurance Plan

Is Hilton Diamond Status Really Good? We Enjoyed 4 Benefits for This Travel.

1. Space-Available Room Upgrade (Diamond Status)
We booked the least expensive room for $106.82, but they upgraded our room to the most expensive one which usually cost $239 when we checked in at this hotel.

2. Free Two Bottled Waters Per Stay (Diamond, Gold and Silver Status)
They actually forgot to give us bottles of water, but when we asked them about it, they gave us four bottles of water! ;)

3. Complimentary Continental Breakfast (Diamond and Gold Status)
We were able to enjoy complimentary continental breakfast at a restaurant in this hotel. It's usually cost $30.30 for two people, but was free. :)  (*A complimentary continental breakfast for you and up to one guest registered to the same room each day of your stay)

Earn 150,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points after you spend $4,000 in purchases on the Card within your first 3 months of Card Membership.

It's usually not easy for us to spend $4,000 in 3 months. However, we already have paid nearly $4,000 in total with this card because we purchased airplane tickets for this winter travel. After we receive 150,000 Hilton Honors Points, we will book hotels in Japan with points.  ;)

Is This Card Good for You Too?
If you don't travel at all, you should skip this card because its annual fee is very high. If you stay in Hilton Hotel at least a few times a year, I think that it's worth it to pay expensive annual fee.
