Tokyo Tower - New Year's Japan Travel Day 6

        My husband and I traveled Japan during New Year's holidays. As I mentioned in my previous entry, after enjoying beautiful night views of Tokyo Station, we headed toward Tokyo Tower.

        It takes about 20 minutes from Tokyo Station (東京駅) to Tokyo Tower (東京タワー) by a bus.

     
       We got on the bus, Tokyu Bus (東急バス, 東98 等々力操車所行), at Tokyo Station South Exit bus stop (東京駅南口 バス停). It cost only 220 yen per person.

       You can let the bus driver know that you want to get off the bus at the next stop with pushing this button, which reads tomarimasu (とまります), which means that the bus will stop at the next stop. The buttons were located under the bus windows. We got off the bus at Tokyo Tower bus stop (東京タワー バス停).

     Tokyo Tower is a popular observation tower in Minato-ku, Tokyo. If you love Japanese movies or Japanese serial dramas, you've probably sometimes seen this tower in them. Indeed, there are some Japanese movies, whose titles are "Tokyo Tower" such as Tokyo Tower - Mom & Me, And Sometimes Dad (東京タワー オカンとボクと、時々、オトン).
     Tokyo Tower is one of the must go to places in Tokyo because it's so beautiful especially night time. :)

    There was the kadomatsu (門松), which is a traditional Japanese decoration for New Year, on the first floor of Tokyo Tower. There are a food court and some gift shops on the second floor.

       The bamboo water fountain, located next to Kadomatsu, is called shishi-odoshi (ししおどし) or sozu (添水). You can see one as a traditional Japanese decoration in some Japanese gardens. You can enjoy the sound of the bamboo hitting the stone.

       There was a very long line to get on elevator to go to the observation deck. That's why we eventually didn't go to the deck. We have gone there several times when we lived in Japan. You know Tokyo Tower is more beautiful looking outside. ;)

     I saw a group of go-karts driving around Tokyo Tower.

       Then, we decided to go to the best places to view Tokyo Tower to take photos. I'll write about it next time. :)
