Japanese Lawson Convenience Store Bread Haul

Japanese Bread Haul
As I mentioned in my previous entry, last month, he had another chance to visit Japan for his business trip. When he goes to Japan, I always ask him to purchase some Japanese bread because Japanese bread is fluffy and tastes so good. He purchased some bread at Lawson convenience store located in Haneda Airport. Today, I'm going to share Japanese breads he purchased in Japan with you.

1. Mini Choco Cream Pan (ミニ チョコクリームパン)
5 pieces for 100 yen

This time, he purchased Mini Choco Cream Pan (ミニ チョコクリームパン), small buns which had chocolate pastes inside. By the way, last time, he purchased Mini Cream Pan, small buns which had custard cream. In Japan, you can find these small buns at most supermarkets and convenience stores. You can choose sweetened red bean paste ones (anpan), custard cream ones, chocolate cream ones and peanut cream ones.

These were very affordable but had plenty of chocolate paste in them. :)

2. Pasco Chojuku (パスコ 超熟)
6 slices for 164 yen
Pasco Chojuku (パスコ 超熟)
Pasco Chojuku (パスコ 超熟) is one of my most favorite Japanese sliced breads. When I lived in Japan, I also love Yamazaki Double Soft (ヤマザキ ダブルソフト), which is also sliced bread but is softer and fluffier than Pasco Chojuku. You can purchase Pasco Chojuku and Yamazaki Double Soft at many supermarkets and convenience stores. By the way, Japanese slice bread is called shokupan (食パン) in Japan.

This time, he purchased 6-sliced bread. Pasco Chojuku has 4, 6, 8 and 10-sliced bread you can choose from. 4 is thicker slice, and 8 is thinner slice.

See? Japanese 6-sliced bread is even thicker than American sliced bread. It was fluffy, soft and chewy! :)

3. White Bread. 6 Slices (もっちりとした毎朝の食パン)
6 slices for 149 yen

He also purchased Lawson convenience store-brand shokupan, sliced bread. This one was also 6-sliced bread.

I made easy egg toasts and French toasts with the bread. I will share the recipes with you next time. :)

Affordable Shokupan vs High-End Shokupan
Convenience store's shokupan, sliced bread, is very affordable (around 150 yen), but did you know that loaves of high-end Japanese bread (over 800 yen a loaf) have been very popular in Japan nowadays? I watched some Japanese news that many Japanese people were waiting in a super long line to purchase loaves of high-end bread, and they said that these are also perfect for gifts for someone special. When I lived in Osaka, Japan, I purchased a loaf of high-end bread from Kyoto Boloniya once in a while, but now Japan has many incredibly popular high-end bakeries especially located in Tokyo. I'm thinking about writing about it in my future entry. ;)
