Tokyo Skytree - New Year's Japan Travel Day 4

My husband and I traveled Japan during New Year's holidays. As I mentioned in my previous entry, we enjoyed having Belgian chocolate soft serve at Mini Stop convenience store on our way to Tokyo Skytree (東京スカイツリー) from Senso-ji, an ancient Buddhist temple located in Asakusa, Tokyo. Then, we walked to Tokyo Skytree, which is a famous observation tower in Sumida, Tokyo. It took us about 20 minutes to Tokyo Skytree from the convenience store by walk.

Actually, it was our first time to go to Tokyo Skytree. While we were living in Japan, I watched the news that Tokyo Skytree would be built as a new tall observation tower of Tokyo. The construction started in 2008 and finished in 2012. Tokyo Skytree was finally opened in May, 2012. I always wanted to visit Tokyo Skytree for years! :)

At the Tokyo Skytree, there were huge digital wall arts, Sumida River Digital Picture Scroll (隅田川デジタル絵巻), which were located on the first floor. The pictures show beautiful Tokyo skyline.

They were so interesting! The parts of the pictures on the walls were actually animation. I uploaded this video, Tokyo Skytree Sumida River Digital Picture Scroll, on my YouTube channel.

When it became dark outside, Tokyo Skytree was more beautiful!

As I expected, it was very crowded there, and there was a very long line to get on elevator to go to the observation deck. That's why we decided not to go to the observation deck. The tower was beautiful looking outside. ;) Yet, we enjoyed shopping Tokyo Skytree souvenirs at a gift shop. I'm going to share what I purchased there with you. :)

Every night, I've been trying to read a book before going a bed this year, so I put this bookmark in my book. Every time I open the book, the bookmark reminds me of our Tokyo travel. :)
