Starbucks Japan Geography Series City Mug - Fukuoka

Starbucks Japan Geography Series - Fukuoka
Starbucks Japan released Starbucks Japan Geography Series, Starbucks local mugs and tumblers, in 2016. As I mentioned in my previous entry, when my husband and I went to Starbucks located in Fukuoka prefecture, where is our hometown, we purchased this Starbucks Japan Geography Series Fukuoka mug there. Today, I'm going to share this Starbucks Fukuoka mug with you.

There are three men carrying a mikoshi in a Japanese festival. While carrying the mikoshi, the carriers yell, "Oisha (おいさ)! Oisha!"

Hakata Dontaku (博多どんたく) is the biggest traditional festival in Fukuoka. During the festival, a number of dancers and musicians, who are called torimon (通りもん), are marching in the street. By the way, Hakata Torimon (博多通りもん) is also the name of famous confectionery of Fukuoka.

There are so many food stalls around Nakasu river in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka. People come to eat and drink there during night. You can find so many delicious foods there such as Hakata tonkotsu ramen, yakitori, oden and so on. You can see the names of the stalls, "Yokaroumon" and "Tonkotsu." Yokaroumon (よかろうもん) is Fukuoka dialect and means, "You agree with me, right?" It's a very casual word, and you can only use it for your friends or families. For instance, you can say to your friend, "Ramen tabeni ikitai. Yokaroumon? (I want to go out to eat ramen with you. You agree with me, right?)."   Tonkotsu (豚骨, とんこつ) means pork bone broth and is a type of ramen famous in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka. I really love Hakata tonkotsu ramen! :)

There is a woman with a yellow plastic megaphone. She is wearing a red oversize t-shirt. I think that she must be a fan of Fukuoka Softbank Hawks, a Japanese baseball team based in Fukuoka. "Sogen (そげん)" is another Fukuoka dialect and means "like that" or "that much." It's very hard to explain in English though. You can say to your friend, "Sogen iwandeyo. (Don't say like that.)" "Sogen taberuto? (Are you really going to eat it that much?)"

This is a picture of an elementary school PE lesson. Students wear PE school uniforms and red (and white inside) caps. When the teacher say, "Everyone sit down!", students yell, "Yahh!!" I'm not sure why students have to say "Yahh!!" during PE lesson, but I was first learned to yell so when I was in a preschool in Fukuoka. I didn't even know that this is only in Fukuoka. ;D
