3 Tips : How to Get the Most Out of Your Face Masks!

I am always interested in real beauty tips from Japanese beauty experts. Megumi Kanzaki says one of her beauty tips to keep her skin younger is that she uses facial mask every day. As I mentioned in my previous entry, Sakura Uehara also uses facial mask twice a day.  Chizu Saeki recommends DIY everyday lotion pack with using your favorite keshosui and cotton pads. Moisturizing your skin well is always very important, and using face mask sheets is easy and super effective. Today, I'm going to share with you three tips to get the most out of your face masks.

Tip 1: Add a Compressed Mask Sheet to Make an Extra Face Mask.
MUJI Compressed Face Mask Sheets
Have you ever thought your facial mask has way too much serum in the packet? You don't want to waste excess serum, right? You can add a compressed face mask sheet and make an extra sheet mask! When I open a new package of face masks, I almost always add one compressed mask sheet. After I use up all sheet masks, I finally apply my DIY face mask. :)

How to Make An Extra DIY Face Mask
1. Open the package, and add one compressed mask sheet.

2. Let it absorb excess serum.

3. After using up all original face masks in the package, you can apply your DIY face mask. If the texture of the serum is too thick, or there isn't enough serum for an extra sheet, you can add your favorite keshosui or toner such as Muji Light Toning Water and Hatomugi Skin Conditioner.

Tip 2: Use a Silicon Mask Cover to Prevent Moisture Evaporation from the Mask
Daiso Japan Reusable Silicon Mask Cover
This Daiso Japan Reusable Silicon Mask Cover is very popular in Japan and also has so many positive reviews on Amazon US. You can wear this cover over your facial mask. It prevents moisture evaporation from the mask. It also really can keep still on your face. While wearing the face mask, you can wear eyeglasses and blow-dry your hair.

When I apply a face mask sheet, I always wear this cover over it. While wearing a face mask, I can apply body lotion, get dressed and blow-dry my hair. :)

Tip 3: Always Follow Instruction
Did you know that leaving a sheet mask on for too long isn't good for your skin? Face mask sheets hydrate your skin well, but if you are still wearing a sheet mask which is already getting dried, it starts drawing the moisture away from your skin. You can see my drawing below. That's why most face mask instructions recommend putting on the sheet mask for 5 to 20 minutes.
