How I Make Easy Japanese Chicken Katsu Sand, Deep-Fried Chicken Cutlet Sandwiches

I really love Japanese chicken katsu sand (チキン カツサンド), deep-fried chicken cutlet sandwiches. 😋  In Japan, you can easily find katsu sand (chicken or pork) at most convenience stores, depachika (デパ地下), supermarkets and so on. When I visited Japan in 2018, I purchased some chicken and pork katsu sand at Tokyo Haneda Airport. They were so good!

I Made Japanese Chicken Katsu Sand with Tyson Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins.

Tyson Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins
As I mentioned in my previous entry, I purchased this Tyson Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins at Costco. This large bag contains 5lb of uncooked frozen chicken cutlet, and it was only $9.99 after $4 off discount (through 5/9/2021).

Tyson Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins
It has 18 pieces of uncooked chicken cutlets, so it's 55 cents each. 👍

     These are pretty large!

You Need Tonkatsu Sauce to Make Japanese Chicken Katsu Sand.

Kewpie Mayonnaise & Tonkatsu Sauce
In order to make Japanese chicken katsu sand, you need tonkatsu sauce (とんかつソース) and Japanese mayonnaise. You can purchase these at Japanese supermarkets or Amazon. By the way, I sometimes substitute tonkatsu sauce for okonomi sauce when I want to eat okonomiyaki but run out of okonomi sauce. Tonkatsu sauce is also perfect for hash brown, croquette, deep-fried panko fish and so on. To me, tonkatsu sauce is a kind of multipurpose sauce. 😙

How I Made Japanese Chicken Katsu Sand

I'm going to share how I made easy Japanese chicken katsu sand, chicken cutlet sandwiches, with you.

Ingredients (2 Servings)
2 Pieces of Tyson Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins
2 Leafs of Cabbage (Shredded)
2 Large Slices of Bread

1. Cook Tyson Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins with an Air Fryer. You can also use a toaster oven.

 2. Shred cabbages with an slicer. I always use my Daiso Slicer to shred cabbages. Then, rinse shredded cabbages under running water. Then, use an salad spinner to get excess water off.

 3. Put tonkatsu sauce on the one side of cooked chicken katsu. (You will put tonkatsu sauce on the other side of chicken katsu later.)

 4. Put mayonnaise over sliced bread. (By the way, this is my homemade bread.)

5. Put some shredded cabbages on the sliced bread.

6. Put the chicken katsu over cabbage. (Put the tonkatsu sauce side down.)

 7. Pour some tonkatu sauce over chicken katsu.

 8. Add some shredded cabbages over chicken katsu.

 9. Fold the bread in half.

 10. Enjoy!

You can also cut them into half. 😊  The chicken katsu is crispy on the outside, and perfect with delicious tonkatsu sauce. I cannot believe that this chicken katsu sand costs less than $1.

How to Make Instant Pickled Carrots

Last weekend, I made these instant pickled carrots. I've enjoyed some as a side dish for dinner every evening through this week. You can put the pickles in a refrigerator and keep them fresh for a week. 😋 It's quick and easy to make these pickles carrots. Maybe, the hardest part for this recipe is cutting carrots into strips, which you can skip if you purchased a bag of shredded carrots.  Anyway, today, I'm going to share how to make instant pickled carrots with you.

Ingredients (14 Servings)
4 Carrots (Cut into Strips)
1 and 1/2 teaspoons of Salt
6 Tablespoons of Vinegar
4 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
Black Pepper

1. Mix carrots and salt. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Then, remove excess water with paper towel.

2. In a bowl, whisk vinegar, olive oil, sugar and black pepper together.

3. Toss the carrots in the bowl thoroughly.

 4. Serve and enjoy!

You can put the pickled carrots in a container and store it in a refrigerator for a week. 😉

Top 2 My Favorite Japanese Foods from COSTCO Are on Sale!

My husband and I really love Costco because they sell great products with affordable prices. We love their cheap gas, tires, car batteries, black garlic, ice cream and more! Indeed, we go to our local Costco to purchase grocery every weekend. We sometimes find that some of our favorite products are on sale. For instance, last weekend, I found that a 32-piece The Laughing Cow Cheese was only $3.97 on clearance sale. That's only 12 cents for one piece of cheese at Costco while most stores sell it for 47 cents a piece. I really love the Laughing Cow Cheese, so I purchased some without a second thought. 😋

My Favorite Japanese Foods Are on Sale at Costco!

I found that some of my favorite Japanese foods from Costco are on sale from April 14 through May 9.

Costco Member Only Saving (4/14/2021 through 5/9/2021)

Kirkland Signature Tempura Shrimp (えび天)

Kirkland Signature Tempura Shrimp

I really love Kirkland Signature Tempura Shrimp. As I mentioned in my previous entry, Top 10 Most Popular Japanese Foods, tempura is very popular Japanese foods. When I visit Japan, I sometimes eat tendon (天丼), tempura bowl. I really miss tendon I ate in Tokyo Tsukiji Fish Market before. That's why when I found that my local Costco was selling frozen tempura shrimps, I couldn't resist trying it. This Kirkland Signature Tempura Shrimp tastes really good indeed. If you love Japanese tempura, you really should try it out.  By the way, tempura shrimps are called ebiten (えび天, 海老天) in Japanese.

4/14/2021 through 5/9/2021
Kirkland Signature Tempura Shrimp is originally $16.69 at my local Costco, so it should be $12.69 on sale! I haven't seen Kirkland Signature Tempura Shrimp was on sale for two years or so. Definitely, I am going to purchase this one this weekend. 😁

Kirkland Signature Tempura Shrimp
This box of Kirkland Signature Tempura Shrimp contains 30 frozen tempura shrimps and 6 packs of tempura sauce. By the way, the sauce is not too Americanized and tastes pretty good.

Last New Year's Eve, my husband and I made this tempura soba as Japanese toshikoshi soba noodles. We added tempura shrimp, tenkasu, green onion, tororo kombu flakes over soba noodles.

Tyson Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins (チキンカツ)

4/14/2021 through 5/9/2021

We also love Tyson Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins. This 5-lb bag is originally $13.99 at my local Costco, so it should be $9.99 on sale. (This is cheaper than raw chicken breast.) Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins are called chicken katsu (チキンカツ) in Japanese. If you love Japanese tonkatsu (とんかつ), deep-fried pork cutlet, you will probably love chicken katsu too.

Tyson Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins (I cooked them in an air fryer.)

Tyson Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins are perfect with tonkatsu sauce (とんかつソース).  You can find tonkatsu sauce at a Japanese supermarket.

Tyson Panko Breaded Chicken Breast Tenderloins
I love enjoying chicken katsu with sliced tomatoes and shredded cabbage. I also love katsu curry (カツカレー). Just top chicken katsu over Japanese curry. I also enjoy chicken katsu sand (チキンカツサンド), chicken cutlet sandwiches.
