Trader Joe's Spud Crunchies Potato Snacks and Japanese Calbee Potato Snacks

When I go to Trader Joe's, I always enjoy checking their newly released items. Last weekend, I found that Trader Joe's was selling Trader Joe's Spud Crunchies Potato Snacks! I couldn't resist trying it!

I first thought it must be similar to Japanese Calbee potato snacks such as Jagabee, Jaga Pokkuru and Jagariko.

The ingredients are potato, canola oil and salt. It's gluten free.

They were crunchy and have potato tastes. They were less salty but tasted similar to Calbee potato snacks.  However, I prefer Calbee ones somehow. I cannot tell the differences exactly, but I had 10 pieces of this Trader Joe's potato snack today, and I thought that it tasted good but I had eaten enough. When I eat Calbee Jagariko (I like Jagariko cheese flavor. Jagariko is more crunchy than Trader Joe's one.), I cannot stop eating it, and I often end up eating a whole cup of Jagariko in a day.

These are Calbee potato snacks you can purchase in Japan.

Calbee Jagabee
Calbee Jagabee has many positive reviews on Amazon US.

Calbee Jaga Pokkuru
As I mentioned in my previous entry, 5 Best Delicious Souvenirs from Hokkaido, Japan, Calbee Jaga Pokkuru is only released in Hokkaido Japan.

Calbee Jagariko
Calbee Jagariko is more crunchy than Trader Joe's one. As I mentioned in my previous entry, My Top 10 Favorite Japanese Snacks, this is my must-buy snack in Japan.

  1. Jaga Pokkuru is not only found in Hokkaido. You can find those in Tokyo too.

    1. Good point! Tokyo sometimes sells snacks and candies which are limited to other prefectures, but it's supposed to sell in Hokkaido only.
