Michael Bublé - Holly Jolly Christmas

I have often listened to Michael Buble's album, Christmas, these days. Today, I enjoy listening to Holly Jolly Christmas, which was first sung by Burl Ives in 1965.

Michael Buble has covered this song in his album. He sings this song as if it's very modern Christmas song. :)
Holly Jolly Christmas by Michael Buble

Lyrics

Have a holly, jolly Christmas,
It's the best time of the year
I don't know if there'll be snow,
But have a cup of cheer.

Have a holly, jolly Christmas,
And when you walk down the street
Say hello to friends you know
And everyone you meet.

Oh, ho, the mistletoe
Is hung where you can see,
Somebody waits for you,
Kiss her once for me.

Have a holly jolly Christmas,
And in case you didn't hear,
Oh by golly, have a holly jolly Christmas this year

Oh, ho, the mistletoe
Is hung where you can see,
Somebody waits for you,
Kiss her once for me.

Have a holly jolly Christmas,
And in case you didn't hear,
Oh by golly, have a holly jolly Christmas this year

Today's Vocabularies

jolly 【 dʒɑ́li 】: adjective : 陽気な、上機嫌の、すてきな

by golly 【 gɑ́li 】: 本当に、全く、いやはや◆驚きを表す間投詞。By Godと言うのをちょっと誇張した表現で、少し柔らかく品良くした婉曲表現。

How to Make Pumpkin Pie

I baked this pumpkin pie at home on Thanksgiving day. While a whole pumpkin pie is selling at very reasonable price at many grocery stores in the U.S., I don't really like commercial one because it's usually excessively sweet and has intensive cinnamon tastes. That's why I bake a whole pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving day every year. :) It's very easy to make and always tastes perfect! Today, I'm going to share how to make pumpkin pie with you.
Pumpkin Pie

      Ingredients

90g of graham cracker
40g of butter (melted)
120g of sugar
1/2 teaspoons of salt
1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
2 eggs (beaten)
1 can of pumpkin puree
1 can of evaporated milk

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees ℉.

2. Mix graham cracker crumbs and butter. Press the mixture into a pie plate.

3. Mix sugar, salt and cinnamon powder in a small bowl.

4. Mix eggs, pumpkin puree and evaporated milk in a large bowl. Then, add the mixture of step 3. Stir them thoroughly.

5. Bake it for an hour.

6. Enjoy!

Turkey Casserole - Turkey Leftover Recipe

After Thanksgiving day, you might still have some turkey leftovers in a fridge. If truth be told, I didn't eat roasted turkey this year in the first time in 7 years. However, I bought roasted chicken on the day before Thanksgiving day and enjoyed leftovers now just like my usual after Thanksgiving day. One of my favorite turkey leftover recipe is turkey casserole. It's very creamy and delicious. I'm going to share how to make it with you. :)
Chicken Casserole

■Ingredients (for 5-quart casserole pan)

roasted turkey leftovers
1 onion (sliced)
3 potatoes (sliced)
1 can of whole corns
1 can of peas
2 oz of butter
4 tablespoons of all purpose flour
500 cc (2 cups) of milk
nip of salt and black pepper
1/2 cup of gravy sauce (if you still have)
2 cups of any bread (cut them into 1 inch cube)
1 cup of any kinds of cheese (shredded)

1. Heat oil in pan over high heat. Stir fry potatoes until translucent.

2. Add butter and stir. When butter melts, add flour and stir them thoroughly.

3. Reduce heat to low. Add milk and stir them until thickened.

4. Turn off the heat and season it with salt and pepper. This will be white sauce for making casserole.

5. Place bread in a casserole pan. Add a half of onion, corns, peas and turkey on bread.

6. Add the white sauce with potatoes on it.

7. Add the rest of onion, corns, peas and turkey. Add gravy sauce.

8. Top with cheese.

9. Cook it at 350 degrees in the oven for about an hour.

10. Enjoy!

Kohl's Black Friday Haul

Last night, my husband and I went to our local Kohl's, which is located just a few minutes away from our home, to look their Black Friday sales. I know that yesterday was still Thanksgiving day, but most stores started their Black Friday sales before actual Black Friday. In fact, Kohl's started their Black Friday sales on online last Sunday! It was five days before Black Friday. Anyway, I didn't plan on buying anything that day, but I ended up purchasing some items with great deals there. I'm going to share what I bought there with you.

Since I go walking for exercise almost everyday, my running shoes have been worn out a little, so I finally decided to get new shoes for myself.
Nike Flex Experience 4
These running shoes, Nike Flex Experience 4, were originally $70 but were marked down to $52.50. These didn't seem a very good deal, but I thought these would end up being a great deal because Kohl's offered a $15 Kohl's Cash when you spent $50 more. I also had a $5 coupon, so these end up being like $32.50! That's not too shabby. :)
Nike Flex Experience 4

I usually wear size 7. However, after trying them on at the store, I finally chose them in size 8. They are very light and comfortable to walk in. :)
Nike Flex Experience 4

One of the reason why I chose them was these stylish designs. The navy purple color will be perfect with both my navy color jeans and work out clothing. I also love that they have pink Nike logos in them which will be cute accents on my basic color clothes. :)
Nike Flex Experience 4

Nike Flex Experience 4

We also purchased this the blanket, the Big One Plush Throw. It was originally $39.99 but was $8.99. We actually bought the same blanket in different color last year and really loved it. This is very soft and warm. :)
The Big One Plush Throw

We also purchased a bath rug for $4.99 (originally $19.99) and pillows for $2.99 each (originally $11.99 each).

Because we got a $15 Kohl's Cash that day, we will go shopping there again next month. :)

Maesri Curry Paste - Very Spicy Authentic Thai Curry

Tonight, my husband and I had Thai curry made of Red and Yellow Maesri Curry Pastes for dinner. These cans of curry paste were recommendations of one of his coworkers. :)

In addition to this Maesri Red Curry Paste, we added coconut milk, some meat, eggplants, carrots and peas. It turned out very hot curry and tasted authentic Thai curry. :)

http://amzn.to/1NRPkJF

Red Curry

We also cooked the yellow curry. We cooked meat, vegetables, water and this Maesri Yellow Curry Paste in a pot. This yellow curry was super spicy! Only if you truly love very spicy foods, I recommend this curry to you. I used to think I love spicy foods, but this was way too hot for me. I was only able to eat one tablespoon of it! I hope it will be less spice next day.

Josh Woodward - Stars Collide

Today, I finally uploaded this video, How to Make Starbucks Salted Caramel Mocha Latte, on my YouTube channel. This time, I used Stars Collide, one of Josh Woodward's songs, as background music for this video. Choosing background music is the most fun part of making videos for me. :)

Music - "Stars Collide" by Josh Woodward. Free download: http://joshwoodward.com/song/StarsCollide

Lyrics

Lean back and swallow the key to your heart
You're hiding in your shallow skin
And you're never gonna let me in

You've had a parachute on from the start
I know you wanna break your fall
But are you feeling anything at all?

Everybody feels alone
Everybody's on their own
I wanna see the stars collide
I wanna see the burning sky inside you

You wear a permanent smile on your face
But you're bleeding from the inside out
And you'll never say what it's about

But I know, yeah I know, yeah I know that it's a lie
That you never told me
But I guess you sold me all the same

    Chorus

And I, I wanna go blind
And I, I want you to blind me
Just give me a sign

Don't go and tell me I don't want to know
That I'm better off in the dark
That you'll always be a shooting star

Cuz I know, yeah I know, yeah I know that it's a lie
You shouldn't told it
But I'll never hold it over you

    Chorus

      Today's Vocabularies

break someone's fall : (人)の墜落を受け止める

collide 【kəláid】 : verb : 衝突する

be better off : いっそう楽[安楽・裕福・幸せ]である

shooting star : 流れ星

hold over : phrasal verb : 振りかざす

Japanese Winter Soup - Kasujiru, Sake Lee Miso Soup

When cold season comes, I would like to have Japanese hot soup. Last week, I bought sake lees, which is called sake kasu in Japanese. Sake kasu are lees from left over from sake production and are good sources of protein, Vitamin B, folic acid, dietary fiber and etc. You can find sake kasu next to a miso paste section at a Japanese supermarket. This 200g of sake kasu was under $3. If you live in Japan, it might be about 100 to 200 yen.:)
Sake Kasu
Last night, I made kasujiru, sake lee miso soup, with using this sake kasu. In addition to sake lee and miso paste, it contained chicken thigh, radishes, carrots, burdocks and green onions. It turned out very nutritious Japanese winter soup. If you would like to make this soup, you can check my previous entry, How to Cook Kasujiru. :)

Black Thunder - Popular Japanese Chocolate Bar

One day, I watched Japanese TV show, which was showing that Black Thunder had been become explosively popular in Taiwan. Black Thunder is chocolate bar made by Yuraku Confectionery Company in Japan and was first made in 1994. The company eventually started selling those in Taiwan in 2011. On the TV show, people in Taiwan were waiting in long lines to purchase Black Thunder. They have been purchasing large quantities of those. That's why Black Thunder was often sold out in Taiwan. Some Taiwanese families traveled Japan and were looking for Black Thunder there. They said that it was very hard to find Black Thunder in Taiwan, so those were perfect for souvenirs from Japan because everyone loves them. Now, the company exports 60% of production of Black Thunder to Taiwan!
Black Thunder by Yuraku

They are also going to sell Black Thunder in the U.S. This is their official promotional video for Black Thunder. I can get what they are trying to say in this video, but this video is a little weird...  Don't you think?

Cheap Casio - Popular Inexpensive Casio Watches

I read some Japanese articles that Casio wrist watches have been getting popular in Japan. Casio is one of the biggest electronic manufacturer companies in Japan and was established in Tokyo in 1946. They make calculators, cameras, watches and so on. You probably know G-Shock, which is one of the most famous Casio watches and was first made in 1983. While Casio G-Shock series are pretty expensive and those price ranges are about $100 to $7,000, there are also very inexpensive Casio watches, which people in Japan call "Cheap Casio(チープカシオ)" or "Chipu-kashi(チプカシ)." As these are called, they are incredibly inexpensive(about $10!), however, these are not cheaply made. Well, these might look cheap, but watch itself is well made by Casio. They are durable and accurate, and they have many designs to choose from. Many Japanese people have taken and uploaded photos of their Cheap Cashio on Instagram. Check the Cheap Casio look at #チープカシオ or #チプカシ on Instagram.  After looking through many the Instagram photos, I thought Cheap Casio watches are pretty cool! :) Today, I'm going to share with you most popular Cheap Casio watches in Japan. They are usually sold at discount stores or hardware stores in Japan, but now it's getting hard to find them there because of popularity. You can also find Cheap Casio watches on Amazon US too.

This is the most popular Cheap Casio for both men and women in Japan. This has also many positive reviews on Amazon US too.

How to Make Homemade Water-Based Lotion

Years ago, I used to make homemade water-based lotion weekly to moisturize my face. Most Japanese women apply water-based lotion/toner on their face right before applying creamy lotion, but it's not easy to find right one for me in the U.S. That's why I decided to make it at home. Surprisingly, my homemade lotion worked great, and I loved it. :)) When my husband went on business trip to Japan, I asked him to get  Muji moisturizing lotion for me, and I'm still using Muji one now. Once I use up Muji one, I would like to use homemade lotion for my face again. :)

Anyway, a few days ago, I made my homemade water-based lotion to moisturize my husband skin. Because he has very sensitive skin, he always applys Aveeno lotion or Nevea cream on entire his body right after taking shower. These products were really great and moisturize his skin very well. However, these days, he has felt dryness of his skin and had itching. It's probably because of dry and cold weather. I told him that he probably should apply water-based lotion before applying the cream. He used my homemade one, and his dryness and itchiness have been gone. :))  Today, I decided to share how to make my homemade water-based lotion with you.

My Most Frequently Used Makeup Palette in 2015

I bought this makeup palette, Kristofer Buckle Always Flawless Day to Night Palette, at Costco during holiday season last year, and I really love this palette. This is obviously my most frequently used makeup palette this year!
Kristofer Buckle Always Flawless Day to Night Palette
As you might know, I love affordable makeup products and usually buy them at drugstores. I bought this for about $10 at Costco. It was actually more inexpensive than drugstore makeup. However, I noticed that the quality of this palette is as good as high-end ones! I am glad that I got this for myself as a holiday present last year. :))
Kristofer Buckle Always Flawless Day to Night Palette

Kristofer Buckle Always Flawless Day to Night Palette

One of the reasons why I love this palette is the eyeshadows. The pigmentation is pretty good, and these stay true on my eyes all day.  I often used Day Look eye shadows, the left side of four eye shadows. These natural colors ones were perfect for every day makeup. :)  In contrast, the Night Look eye shadows, the right side of four eye shadows, were only used a couple of times. I wore them while dinning at a fancy restaurant in Hawaii this year. I don't usually wear smoky eye makeup, but I loved how chic these were!
Kristofer Buckle Always Flawless Day to Night Palette
I also love the two blushes, which are so beautiful and perfect with these eyeshadow colors. However, they don't stay on very long, so you might want to reapply it during a day. I love the pretty beige pink lipgloss, which is the left bottom one. Its formula is nice and glossy. :) Last but not least, the black mascara is also excellent since it doesn't smudge under my eyes. :)

If the truth be told, I haven't bought any makeup product except for eyeliners since I purchased this palette at Costco because I have been really satisfied with this product. :) Now, it's a holiday season, so I would like to go to Costco and check their holiday makeup products. :))

Starbucks Gift for the Home, Online Only Collection

It's holiday season! Today, Starbucks started selling Starbucks online exclusive items which are called Starbucks Gift for the Home. I looked through their items online and thought that most products are very fancy and expensive. I found that they are also selling some Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room's items.

Hardmill Rugged Apron, which is used in Reserve Roastery in Seattle is $149! I have seen this apron when I visit Reserve Roastery. I know it's made of leather but really pricey for me.

How To Use Trader Joe's Gourmet Fried Onion Pieces (Recipe)

Last weekend, I had a food sample which was something contained mushrooms, cheese and fried onions at my local Trader Joe's, and I was impressed at its great taste. Specifically, I liked its crunchy fried onions, so I decided to purchase this Trader Joe's Gourmet Fried Onion Pieces. I used to use fried onions which I purchased at Asian grocery stores years ago and loved them so much. :) Trader Joe's one was only $2.99, which is as inexpensive as ones Asian supermarkets carry.

I thought that Trader Joe's one was more crunchy and smelled so yummy! Every time I open it, the smell of dried onions makes me hungry. :))

Trader Joe's Crispy, Crunchy Broccoli Florets

Yesterday, I found this vegetable snack, Trader Joe's Crispy Crunchy Broccoli Florets, at Trader Joe's. I don't usually buy snacks, but I couldn't resist buying this beautiful green snack there since I am a vegetable lover. This 1.40 oz (40g) of snack was $2.79 there.
Trader Joe's Crispy, Crunchy Broccoli Florets
Its ingredients are only broccoli, palm oil and salt. It has lots of Vitamin C. :))

Today, I decided to try this snack. It was very crispy and crunchy as its name described. It smelled just like normal vegetable chips such as okura chips. It was slightly salty and tasty. Then, I craved broccoli tempura! I think I should make vegetable tempura for dinner in the near future. :)

Josh Woodward - I Just Wanted to Dance

A week ago, I uploaded my video, How to Make Caramel Macchiato, on my YouTube channel. I used I Just Wanted to Dance, one of Josh Woodward's songs, for its background music this time. I was able to understand the content of this lyrics but realized that there were many vocabularies I didn't know before. After figuring out the vocabularies, I fully understood this song. :)

Music - "I Just Wanted to Dance" by Josh Woodward. Free download: http://joshwoodward.com/song/IJustWantedtoDance

Lyrics

You're standing there like a statue
So I decided to ask you
"Do you wanna dance?"
And then you took my hand
And you swung me around the grand old ballroom
You said "it's nice to meet you, now let's get married!"
I can see you like to boogie down
But if you're looking for a wedding gown, I'm not your suitor
I just wanted to dance

I'm ready, willing, and able
To dance you under the table
But I don't want to be stuck in a minivan
With a 401(k) plan and picket fences out in the lawn
In deep suburbia
You sure know how to cut a rug
But if you're looking for a cuddlebug, I'm not quite ready
I just wanted to dance

Well all my friends have got big degrees
They're driving 'round in SUVs
But that's not the kind of life for me right now

Someday I might find a career
Get a car with second gear
Until then, I just wanna be clear with you

Well, I'm sorry that I digressed
You look lovely in that dress
So let's go out and shake our butts like no one's watching

Here's my number if you wanna chat
You can keep it or, give it back, it makes no difference
'Cause I just wanted to dance

 Today's Vocabularies

swing around : 振り回す

boogie down : 行く ≒ get down

suitor 【 súːtər 】 : noun : 求婚者

picket fence : 棒杭の囲い

suburbia 【 səbə́ːrbiə 】 : noun : 郊外

cuddlebug : A person who loves to cuddle, usually completely platonic.

Top 3 Japanese Facial Cotton Pads

I think the most popular Japanese Facial Cotton Pads in the U.S. are Muji and Shiseido, but there are actually many other excellent products in Japan. Today, I decided to share with you top 3 Japanese facial cotton pad products which were chosen based on Japanese women's reviews on @cosme, a huge cosmetic review site in Japan. You can purchase these products at very reasonable prices at any drugstore in Japan. I don't know about your country, but any paper products such as cotton pads and bath tissue in Japan are very reasonable compared to the U.S., where I live right now. If you are planning on visiting Japan, you really should get these at drugstore. These are selling at less than 400 yen per box there. :))

No.1 : Unicharm Silcot Uruuru Sponge Facial Cotton Pads - 40 Pads

Unicharm Silcot Uruuru Sponge Facial Cotton - 40 Pads
This is the most highly rated facial cotton pad product on @cosme, and I would like to get this one when I visit Japan next time. Many Japanese women have been impressed at this product, which was very uniquely made like sponge cotton sheets, so you need only half amount the normal use of moisturizer (toner or lotion). :) After patting moisturizer on your entire face with this cotton pad, you can tear off along perforation and place them under eyes for using as facial masks. The outer line of this cotton is curved in order to fit your under eye lines.

No.2 : Unicharm Silcot 100% Facial Puffs - 80 Pads

Unicharm Silcot 100% Facial Puffs - 80 Pads
This is very inexpensive in Japan but very excellent product. Indeed, this is the longest selling cotton pad product in Japan. I actually used to use it when I lived in Japan and loved it. The pad is soft and fluffy, so it's gentle to your skin. Yet, it is strong and doesn't leave behind any cotton pieces on your skin. :)

No.3 : SHISEIDO Cotton Pads

SHISEIDO Cotton Pads
This Shiseido Cotton Pad was made of high quality handpicked cotton. Compared to Unicharm cotton products, Shiseido ones are slightly expensive. However, considering its excellent quality, it's pretty reasonable. :)  It's soft and gentle to your skin. It also never leaves any cotton on your face. If you are a big fan of Shiseido products and are going to visit Japan, you should get one there. Its retail price is 400 yen, but you can probably find one at about 300 yen at drugstores. :)

Michael Bublé - Cold December Tonight

These days, I have often listened to Christmas, which was released by Canadian singer Michale Bublé in 2011. One of my favorite song from this album is Cold December Tonight. :))

Lyrics

Stockings are hung with care
The children sleep with one eye open
Now there's more than toys at stake
'Cause I'm older now but not done hoping

The twinkling of the lights
A Santa kid who's filled with hustle
Old saint Nick has taken flight
With a heart on board so please be careful

Each year I ask for many different things
But now I know what my heart wants you to bring
So please just fall in love with me this Christmas
There's nothing else that I would need this Christmas
Won't be wrapped under the tree
I want something that lasts forever
So kiss me on this cold December night

A cheer that smells of pine
A house that's filled with joy and laughter
The mistletoe says stand in line
Loneliness is what I've captured
Oh but this evening can be a holy night

Let's cozy on up our fireplace
And dim those Christmas lights

So please just fall in love with me this Christmas
There's nothing else that you would need this Christmas
Won't be wrapped under the tree want something that lasts forever
So kiss me on this cold December night.

They call it the season of giving
I'm here, yours for the taking
They call it the season of giving I'm here I'm yours

Just fall in love with me this Christmas
There's nothing else that we would need this Christmas
Won't be wrapped under the tree want something that lasts forever
Cause I don't wanna be alone tonight
I'm wearin' our Christmas sweater
While talking to the mistletoe tonight
I want something that lasts forever
So kiss me on this cold December night.
They call it the season of giving
I'm here, yours for the taking
They call it the season of giving I'm here I'm yours
