A Glimpse into Our Japanese Adventure

Jomon Sugi Cedar Trail on Yakushima Island

I've just come back from an incredible trip to Japan! My husband and I enjoyed exploring Japan for about two weeks.  It was the longest vacation we've had together since moving from Japan to the U.S. This time, we stayed at an airport hotel with direct access to Haneda Airport Terminal 3 for one night. Then, we flew to Yakushima Island in Kagoshima prefecture for the first time. We stayed on the island for five days. We loved hiking on Yakushima Island, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site and the inspiration for the Studio Ghibli film Princess Mononoke. If you haven't visited, you really should. It's stunning and definitely worth the visit. You can go on a strenuous hike to see the Jomon Tree, the famous thousands-year-old tree, or wander through the Princess Mononoke forest and be inspired by the beautiful nature. Afterward, we flew to Fukuoka and stayed in Hakata for three days, enjoying the famous local foods. We also took a drive to Yame city, which is renowned for Yame green tea, and found the best green tea smoothie at Kashi Kichi in Hoshinomura, Yame city. It was way better than a Starbucks Matcha Frappuccino. I'll write more about our Japan adventure in my future entries. 😉

This Is the Best Green Tea Smoothie I've Ever Had!
